Product Description

The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is an exceptional single malt Scotch whisky, renowned for its depth of character and complexity. Crafted at the Balvenie Distillery in Banffshire, Scotland, this multi-award-winning whisky undergoes a unique double maturation process. Initially aged for 12 years in traditional American oak casks (ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads), the whisky absorbs a warm, mellow vanilla character. It is then transferred to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months, allowing rich fruitiness and honeyed depth to develop.

The result is a beautifully balanced whisky, with the smoothness of honey, the spiciness of cinnamon, and the rich, fruity notes from the sherry casks. After maturation, the whisky is transferred to large oak vessels known as “tuns” to allow the various cask influences to "marry" and harmonise, ensuring a perfect blend of flavours. This method, combined with the traditional craftsmanship at the Balvenie Distillery, makes The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old a standout expression and an excellent introduction to the world of matured Scotch whisky.
